Vale Sara Douglass

The sf community – and especially all of us at Voyager –  mourn Sara Douglass (Sara Warneke) who passed away in the early hours today.  She blazed the trail for Australian fantasy from the mid nineties and inspired many a new novelist – including myself – not just to write but to look further afield to the international stage, where she led a loud charge.  Her legacy of work will continue to entertain fantasy readers worldwide and Tasmania will miss one of its top talents, although I suspect Sara’s spirit will continue to roam her beloved gardens in Hobart.

A great loss for Australian literature.
